The Things We Carry: How backpacks, purses, wallets and bags can impact posture

Posted on February 14, 2021January 14, 2025 by pilatesnative

A heavy bag, backpack or purse worn on a single shoulder can negatively impact your posture and cause major pain!

– Causes you to lean heavily to one side to counter balance the weight

– Forces you to redistribute your body weight to account for a shift in center of gravity

– Depresses and compresses the shoulder carrying the heavy weight.

We’ll be focusing on various carrying issues over the next few days.
